Privacy Policy
Effective October 6, 2026
This policy covers Asks for Mac and Asks for iPhone ("Asks"), developed by Gleb Zevkov. It describes exactly what the apps store, where, who can read it, how long it is kept, and how to delete it.
What Asks collects
Your account
You sign in with Google. Firebase Authentication receives your Google account identifier (Firebase uid) and email address, plus your name and profile photo link if Google shares them. Asks uses these only to sign you in and to keep your data separate from everyone else's. Asks asks Google only to confirm who you are; it does not access your Gmail or any other Google data. Earlier Mac versions offered Gmail alerts; if you granted that access, the Mac app revokes it and deletes its token from your Keychain the next time it starts.
Questions, notices and answers
When an agent on your Mac asks you something, Asks stores the question in your account: its title, message, the questions and options, its priority, timestamps, and a source label made of the project folder name and your computer's host name. Your answers (and partial answers while you are still answering) are stored with it, together with which device answered (Mac or iPhone).
Side-chat messages
If you ask the agent about a question while answering it, the messages you and the agent exchange are stored with that question.
iPhone push tokens
Each signed-in iPhone registers its Apple push notification token, the device name, the push environment and when it registered, so Asks can send notifications to it.
iPhone sessions (end-to-end encrypted)
When your iPhone follows Claude Code sessions on your Mac, everything they exchange (transcripts, prompts, commands) is end-to-end encrypted on the devices with keys that never leave them. The server stores and relays only sealed messages it cannot read, plus key identifiers, sizes, sequence numbers and timestamps. Pairing an iPhone with a Mac additionally stores the iPhone's public key, its device name and a pairing check value. The live relay forwards encrypted messages in memory and keeps nothing.
What Asks does not do
Asks has no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. Your data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with third parties beyond the service providers below that make the app work.
Where it is stored
Your account data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Cloud Functions) in the europe-west1 region (Belgium); the session relay runs on Google Cloud Run in the same region. Notifications to your iPhone are delivered through Apple's Push Notification service, which receives the notification text (the question's title and text, or the agent's chat reply). The iPhone app uses Firebase App Check with Apple's App Attest to verify it is the genuine app.
Who can read it
Only you. Firestore security rules allow a signed-in user to read and write only their own data. Encrypted session content can be read only by your paired Mac and iPhone.
How long it is kept
- Questions, notices and answers: deleted automatically about 7 to 8 days after they are created.
- Side-chat messages: deleted automatically about 7 to 8 days after each message is sent.
- Pairing requests: about 1 to 2 days. Session links: about 2 to 3 days. Encrypted session messages: about 1 to 2 days.
- iPhone push tokens: deleted when you sign out on that iPhone, or when Apple reports the token is no longer valid.
- Your account and the time you last cleared your Recent list: kept until you ask for deletion.
- Data on your own devices (log file, pairing keys, the Mac's audit log of phone actions): kept until you remove the app or its files.
How to delete your data
- Sign out on your iPhone to remove its push token; everything else in your account expires on the schedule above.
- To delete your account and all remaining data now, email privacy@asks.stream from the Google account you use with Asks. It will be deleted within 30 days.
- To revoke Asks' access to your Google account, visit myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- On your Mac, deleting the app and
~/Library/Application Support/Asksand~/Library/Logs/Asks.logremoves the local data.
